Dunellen Public Library

Fund Raising

Because of the flat funding from the borough, a stoppage of grants from the State Library, and a decrease in gifts from private foundations, all due to the downturn in our national and state economies, our library is facing a very significant budget shortfall this year.

Our revenues are down and our expenses are up.  To keep our doors open we will have to buy fewer books, DVD's, video tapes, and audio tapes.  We will have fewer programs for Adults and Children.  We may have to close on evenings and Saturdays.

We have developed a number of fundraising programs to help alleviate this situation. We are grateful for any help you can give us.

Best Seller Donations

Each week we post The New York Times Best Seller list.  You can help us by purchasing for the library a copy of a fiction or non-fiction best seller.  The cost to you would be the discounted price the library pays.  In return, after we process the book (with a special "donated by" book plate), you will be number one on the list to read it.

Gift Books

We gladly accept gift books.  Many we place directly in our collection.  Others are more appropriate for our book sale table.  You can also give us the money to buy a particular book (in this fund raising category, a book that is not a best seller) and pay only the lower discounted price that the library pays its book distributor.  We will put a "donated by" book plate in the book and you will be the first to read it after it is cataloged.

Library Benefactors

We have established a Benefactor Gift Program to help supplement our yearly book budget.

Donors can become any of the following:

Gold Member Benefactor:  $100.00

Silver Member Benefactor:  $50.00

Bronze Member Benefactor:  $25.00

Library Supporter:  any size gift will help

Monies received under this Benefactor Program will go to a general fund and used to buy books during the current fiscal year.

Remember Us In Your Will

People who use their public library regularly know how important we are to the fabric of the community.  You especially appreciate the benefits you receive on a daily basis.  Please consider the library when you are reviewing your estate planning.  It is a legacy to be proud of.
